Fashion and Strong Friendships!

Hey Loves! I'm glad to have you stop by the blog today. After three attempts of my laptop shutting down on me, I sure hope you enjoy this post! I'm back wearing this adorable olive green bomber jacket again. I always reach for it when I head out the house. Its great finding those "trendy" yet practical pieces to incorporate in your wardrobe. I'm also wearing my favorite leather jogger pants. These pants are one of my go to's. For $15, you better get you a pair NOW!! Its nothing like comfy pants (drawstring waist anyone?) you can wear day or night and feel like a fashionista!! I'm also loving my sunglasses. Target always gets me in the accessory aisle. These "cat eye" sunglasses are no exception and I am happy to add them to my collection.

A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post called "Twenty Things You Don't Know About Me" and I spoke on how cautious I am with friendships. I wanted to touch base on this a little bit. I'm 34 years old and I have had a few experiences on failed friendships. One: my best friend that I had known since high school, decided that she no longer wanted to be my friend after I got married in 2009 and I haven't heard from her since. How did that come to be? I have no clue and couldn't tell you! Two: my college friends/roommates and I had a huge falling out, partially over an idiot boyfriend I was dealing with. I saw a side of my "friends" that I didn't like or trust. In looking back, I wish I never met the guy! Maybe if I didn't, I still would've been friends with these ladies. But, in my heart I knew it was a good thing that the "friendships" were no more and I have no regrets.  

Finding friends as a woman is completely different then men. Men can bond easily over sports, Playstation games or any other random topic. For women, it takes an open mind to be willing to connect with another woman.  As I said in my previous post, I didn't make friends until a year after I moved here. Its important to have solid friendships you can count on. Someone you can share things with and be yourself. So today, I want to encourage you to evaluate your friendships! Are you pouring into them more then they are pouring into you? Do you feel in your heart this person has your back, cheers you on and loves you? Do they show signs of envy? Mistrust? Is this friendship only for a season or a lifetime? 

It was in my heart to share with you some of the different types of friendships in my life currently that I love and would not change for the world. 

1) Can call at anytime and talk about absolutely nothing

2) Haven't talked in months or years but can pick up the conversation like nothing changed

3) Text buddies: life is busy and a phone call may take too much effort. But, a text is just as fun too!

4) The friend who cheers you on, share your deepest secrets and is proud to be your friend

5) The friend you have known all your life that you can talk about childhood memories and experiences with from way back when.

I saw this quote on Instagram and boy, did it resonate with me! 

"You don't need a certain number of friends. You just need a number of friends you can be certain of!"

Edgy and Chic Valentine's Day Look!

Happy Sunday! With Valentine's Day just around the corner its time to peep into your closet and put together a stylish look! If you're like me, when date night rolls around or special occasions like Valentine's I always draw a blank on what to wear. More like hating everything in my closet and wonder where are my tops, dresses and everything else lol. So this time around, I thought ahead and managed to put together an edgy look, but yet chic look for you. This simple silk, one shoulder top is absolutely perfect for a special night and can you believe I found it on thredUp? thredUp is a wonderful site where you can find gently used or like new clothing by great brands at a fabulous price! This gorgeous top, along with my favorite ripped, boyfriend jeans and my favorite camel coat makes for an easy outfit. Throw on some great jewelry and you're good to go!

Reversible Cape and Over The Knee Boot Please!

Hi there friends! One thing is for certain, I have been a girl all about capes and ponchos this fall/winter season. They are quick and easy to throw on and make a quick outfit. For me, I have to find one that is the perfect length that allows my legs to show and give me a bit of height. This ASOS cape does just that! It is a bit wide on me, so I used a skinny belt to create some shape and flare. Also, this cape is REVERSIBLE! So you get two looks for one cape, great buy if you ask me!! I am also wearing my favorite Over The Knee boot this season, the "Gorgeous" boot by Steve Madden! It is the PERFECT dupe for the Stuart Weitzman "Highland" boot. For under $150, I have no problem indulging in this look for less option.

Blush Pink and Gray... Why Not?!

You already know I've been in a blush pink sorta mood lately if you seen my previous blog posts (click here and here). It's such a soft, flirty, subdued color that I am totally into. Blush pink paired along with cool gray tones of the moto jeans and fringe booties (worn previously here) offers up serious eye candy! I am really in love with the quilted bag!! It's a great Chanel "look for less" option with a wallet friendly price point. Sadly, its sold out at the moment. But, if you stalk the site, hopefully they'll restock soon. Its such a great piece and I want you to have it!! I'll also post on my Instagram if I notice that its restocked. 

I wish you a great week! This Friday is my 34th birthday! I am thankful to God for allowing me to see another year. I can't wait to share it with friends and my family this upcoming weekend.

Style Craving: Blush

Hey Loves! Its been such a long time since I've done a "Style Craving" post. If you are not familiar, I typically post a collage of items that I am currently craving for my closet. Blush pink has been such a popular shade over the past few years and its easy to understand why. Its such a subdued shade that works well as a neutral, has a hint of understated sexiness and in my opinion,  perfect for any occasion or season! Blushing Moments!

I love to wear dresses! Especially a maxi dress. I'm 5'3, but all legs so they're usually a perfect length on me. This one is no exception!! I popped into Forever 21 the other day to do a little Christmas shopping and got a little sidetracked when I came across this number. It's the perfect "nude-blush" shade that shows just enough décolletage and a little.. or a lot of leg. It's up to you! I think this is a perfect dress for New Year's Eve, its sexy and sophisticated at the same time. Pair it with lace up heels and a statement clutch and you're ready to party the night away! Proper foundation garments are a must with this dress ladies! It is a little thin. I would definitely wear a good shaper underneath to keep you smooth and held in. 

I can't believe we are headed into 2016. I can't wait to start the year off with a bang!! I definitely have some new goals I want to achieve. Especially with the blog! More on that to come soon!

Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you are having a fabulous time with family and friends. Today's look is an easy, comfy Thanksgiving outfit you can wear to a family dinner while yet, remaining stylish. There are so many favorite pieces to this outfit: the olive sweater cape, bold red bag, ripped jeans and these "GORGEOUS" Over the Knee boots! Now, you can always trade out the jeans for some comfy leggings so you can really get down and enjoy your meal (don't worry, no judging here), but I always love wearing my ripped jeans anytime I get a chance. You really cannot do any wrong with this simple, but statement making look. 

The year has flown by so quickly. I remember last year being on maternity leave with my little girl during Thanksgiving. We traveled to Chicago on our first airplane trip together to visit my brother in law in college. It was a trip full of worry of her first plane ride, keeping her warm in the brutal cold, and our first Thanksgiving together as a family of three. Now with having a child, the memories of my time spent with her are bolder, more vivid and have more meaning. So forgive me as I reflect on this time last year. She's grown so much!! I am most thankful of this child of mine, who is the sparkle in my eye and the reason I keep going.
